In a small town like Prince Rupert, says Andrea Pollock, a single person's contributions to community life make a significant difference. It is one of the reasons she enjoys being a Prince Rupert small business owner. "I have the chance to stand out with my business and build opportunities for others," Andrea states. "I feel like I matter here." Plus, the casual pace and immersion in the outdoors suit her lifestyle perfectly. She is a fan of the simple pleasures of life: walking with her dogs, hosting backyard barbecues and getting up close to nature, and Prince Rupert is the perfect place for all those things and more.
Andrea has an entrepreneurial spirit. "I like following my own lead," she says. "I like being able to move in any direction I see fit for my business.... and I do." In fact, Andrea co-owns two other Prince Rupert businesses, including Eagle Close Executive B & B and Island Sugar. It was a niche in the local market for high-end accommodations that Andrea saw and which prompted her to start Tall Trees Bed and Breakfast, which she has operated since 2009.
Andrea enjoys entertaining her guests, who come from places all over the world. She strives to provide stellar service as well as a family atmosphere. She maintains an extensive wine cellar with a focus on Canadian wines which she likes to share with her guests.
