Lindsay Read jokes that her venture into entrepreneurship came out of desperation. In reality, it was her intense passion for art that brought with it the desire to develop the business side of her work. Lindsay simply loves to create, and marketing her work allows her to continue doing what she is so passionate about. "I love the act of collaboration with non-artists and the beauty of creating something that before was just an idea in someone else's mind," Lindsay states.
Fortunately, Wells is one of the best places in all of Canada for budding artists. "There is a supportive, healthy and vibrant arts community here," says Lindsay. It has allowed her to develop a strong network of professional connections and many rewarding personal relationships as well. It has also given her the opportunity to get behind the arts movement and promote the arts in general in Wells. Lindsay has served in the past on the Island Mountain Arts board of directors as well as on the board of the Central Interior Regional Arts Council.
In fact, Lindsay says, Wells is a wonderful community in a plethora of ways. Because it is a small community, it's easier for one person to make a big difference. It is filled with beautiful people who care for and look out for each other, and it is a safe and nurturing place to raise a family. It offers many amazing recreational opportunities and access to the outdoors. Lindsay likes to spend some of her own spare time outdoors in her garden.
