Blue Mountain Honey
For 16 years, Blue Mountain Honey has been producing high-quality honey and other honeybee products. Today, it is one of northern BC’s largest honey producers, a fact that owners, Sheldon and Kimberly Dyck, are proud of.
Blue Mountain Honey comes in a vast variety of flavours and the farm also uses bee by-products like honeycomb to produce other products, including beeswax lip balm. Blue Mountain Honey products are sold all over BC, but Vanderhoof residents often pick their honey up at the local Farmer’s Market where Sheldon and Kimberly are always quick with a hello and a friendly smile.

Meet Kim & Sheldon Dyck
Running a honeybee farm isn't easy. Bad weather can throw off production and sometimes the workers get mad and fight back with their stingers. Sheldon and Kimberly Dyck say that they wouldn't trade their lifestyle for any other. Like many entrepreneurs, Kimberly and Sheldon, say that business is in their blood. Although there are challenges, they enjoy the freedom and flexibility that business ownership provides.
Sheldon was born and raised in Vanderhoof and the couple intends to spend the rest of their lives in the community. Eventually, they'd like to pass on the business to one or more of their six children. In the meantime, Kimberly says, the business and the kids keep the couple very busy.
Sheldon and Kimberly are grateful to the District of Vanderhoof for being so supportive of them and of small businesses in general. To give back, the Dycks get involved in local school fundraisers. They also support the Fall Fair and Vanderhoof Kids for Children's Hospital.
