Although they have books, the Tumbler Ridge Public Library wants you to know that they offer many entertaining programs for all ages. In fact, they offer everything from adult programs like ping pong to Lapsit, for babies and parents.

Head Librarian, Paula Coutts, is proud to be part of the business community in Tumbler Ridge and says it’s the smaller communities that are able to create a more personalized service for their customers. The library staff interacts more with clients and is able to react quickly when their clients need assistance. Whether people need help with resume writing, job searches or finding the latest bestseller in print or audio format, the team is there to help.

According to Paula, people aren’t just clients at the Tumbler Ridge Public Library, they are familiar friends. “We get to know what people like to read and will try to set items aside for them,” says Paula.

A known community landmark, the Library is actually as old as the town itself! It had to reside in the high school until the Community Centre was built. In fact, the Library was mentioned and included in the initial plans for the creation of Tumbler Ridge - dating all the way back to the early 80s!
