Meet Manda Maggs

Geology is the study of the earths structure, the materials of which it is composed of and the processes acting upon it. Geology looks into the history of the earth by providing information on past climates, plate tectonics and the evolution of life.

A Geopark is an area of international significant geological heritage. A park dedicated to the study of how we as a civilization have used and affected the land in the past and how we should use it moving forward. The elements that are found in a Geopark assist in the study of our past, help us understand our present and guide us in our future.

This designation of Global Geopark comes with immense opportunities to do significant things in Tumbler Ridge and the Tumbler Ridge Global Geopark Society has high hopes for its impact on tourism.

Formed in 2014, this grassroots society was created by residents who were passionate about the town they call home. There is an immense beauty and intrigue to Tumbler Ridge, where else can you see waterfalls, untouched wilderness and fossil meters from each other?

The Tumbler Ridge Global Geopark Society's Board of Directors and staff members make it a goal of theirs to work with and promote local businesses.

The Tumbler Ridge Global Geopark Society knows the value of this small community and say this Geopark designation is just the beginning of the great things to come for Tumbler Ridge.
