Misty River Books
Misty River Books is the largest bookstore north of Prince George, carrying books, magazines, stationery, calendars and gift items for all ages. They have an excellent web store and offer shipping anywhere! Anna and her staff enjoy working hard every day to ensure their customers get exactly what they need and are always excited to see everyone who walks through the door.
Misty River Books is a member of the Terrace Chamber of Commerce, Terrace Downtown Improvement Area, British Columbia Booksellers Association, Retail Council of Canada, Canadian Federation of Independent Business, and American Booksellers Association. Anna also sits on the Board of Directors for a couple of these associations. Few things make Anna’s day at work more fulfilling than helping a customer find his or her perfect book. She first opened the bookstore in 1988. The bookstore is more than a job...running the bookstore is about the people they serve and the relationships they’ve established with their customers throughout their 32 years in business.
Anna believes that Terrace and area are exceptional in the way its residents support both their small businesses and community events. She credits her customers and the Northern BC community for the success of the bookstore! For this, she is very thankful and proudly supports community events. Misty River Books regularly provides ticket sales and advertising for local events, hosts author readings with partners and the staff enjoy planning customer appreciation events such as their bi-annual Teas Party and Annual Sale in November.
Anna is hopeful about Terrace's future. Increasing competition from internet service providers is always a bit daunting, but they believe that there will never be a replacement for personalized, attentive service. "We need to work hard to continue to reach out to the new people coming into our community, show them what we are so proud of and appreciate," Anna states. This will help to ensure a bright future for Terrace.
