Telkwa Honeybee

Agriculture & Food Production-Food & Beverage

Telkwa Honeybee produces thousands of pounds of raw, unpasteurized honey every year from its 70 beehives. Professional beekeeper Henry Andringa puts loving care into all of his hives because he knows that happy bees make the best honey. Telkwa Honeybee produces one variety of honey and is available for purchase directly from the farm, at the Smithers Farmer’s Market, Nature’s Pantry and Out of Hand in Smithers.

Meet Henry & Sharon Andringa

Henry and Sharon Andringa wouldn't trade rural farm life for any other kind. Their farm, notes Henry, is in a perfect location. It's far enough from town to afford all of the peace and tranquility of country living, but close enough that jobs and services are within just a few minutes' drive away.

You might say that Henry is a bee fanatic. He's fascinated by them and enjoys simply watching and studying them. Henry makes much of the bee keeping equipment by hand and with loving attention to detail. Henry and Sharon believe in sustainable and natural food production, and so the honey that is produced within the farm's 70 beehives is sold raw and unpasteurized. The Andringas work hard to maintain a healthy environment for the bees which, in turn, leads to higher honey production.

Henry and Sharon are proud of the quality of their honey. They add that their business continues to grow and their pre-season sales have increased every year since they first started out in 2008.
