Meet Andrew & Alison Watson
Andrew and Alison Watson may very well be the ultimate recyclers. That's because the building that houses Eddy Park Lodge was actually once marked to be demolished until the couple stepped in. What had once lived at least two previous lives was saved thanks to the couple's vision, and aided by the helpful fact that Andrew and his father owned a house-moving company. They moved the building a few blocks, remodelled it, gave it a new name and opened it up to guests in 2010. Andrew notes that it was "just too good an opportunity to pass up!"
The Watsons love having a business in Telkwa and enjoy many aspects of the village. Alison notes that Telkwa is a vibrant community with unique businesses that have a great deal to offer to residents and visitors alike. “Telkwa has great potential to grow its downtown into an eclectic mix of small businesses and to capitalize on the amazing riverfront location,” she states, adding that even people from Smithers regularly make the drive to Telkwa to enjoy an ice cream or coffee.
The Watsons themselves like to get out and enjoy the Bulkley Valley when they’re able. They especially like taking their family to their cabin at the ski hill for the weekend. They also enjoy a variety of other very “northern” sports like fishing, hunting, biking and camping.
