Meet Ella & Jessica Butz
Ella and Jessica Butz credit their mother with planting the entrepreneurial bug in them from young ages. "Our mother has always been an entrepreneur and we have followed in her footsteps," says Jessica. The sisters, who love fashion, saw a need for trendy clothing in Smithers and decided it was the niche that they needed to fill. They started in 2008 and have worked hard to develop a reputation in the community. They are very grateful to their loyal customers for helping them to become a thriving business. Their successes lead them to launch a second business along with partner Angie Tattersall, Back Alley Boots, and they are thrilled with the direction the business is going.
In fact, says Jessica, the sisters are excited about the climax of business in general in Smithers. "There are new businesses opening often and to us, it seems they are all doing well. Smithers now has a lot more to offer to the public so it's not as necessary for locals to leave and spend their money in other communities," notes Jessica. "We love all the local businesses as they all carry something unique to themselves, and they offer Smithers a wide variety of goods and services. As we know, it's not always easy owning your own business and working retail, so we appreciate and respect every single one of them. "
Ella and Jessica were born and raised in Smithers and now feel thankful to be able to raise their own families here. "It's a safe community," Jessica states. Their roots run deep, and they and their families are actively involved in numerous areas throughout the community. They love to spend time outdoors taking advantage of all of the recreational opportunities available in Smithers. They also enjoy traveling during those rare times they're able to get away from the shop.
