Meet Joe & Laura Bolster
Joe and Laura Bolster were looking for more flexibility as well as the opportunity for creativity in their work life when the chance to purchase Extreme Signs and Stripes opened up in 2011. Joe, who has always had an interest in this type of work, knew it was the perfect choice and so they bought the business. Since then, Joe has created hundreds of artistic and advertising products for both local and non-local businesses.
The Bolsters are Smithers lifers and couldn't imagine living and working anywhere else. The people are all friendly, remarks Joe, and everything you could possibly need or want is close by, including some of the best outdoor recreational opportunities in the world. The Bolsters love working with people and get a sense of pride and satisfaction out of being able to create a product that exceeds the expectations of their customers.
Joe notes that business ownership in a small town like Smithers has some special challenges. However, Joe feels positive about the future of local business, pointing out that paying attention to what people want and need goes a long way to making a small town business not just viable, but successful.
