Meet Michelle & Trenton Gravelle
Michelle Bryant-Gravelle saw a need in her hometown of Prince Rupert for alternative transportation, particularly for out-of-town business people working in the community. Motivated by her entrepreneurial spirit and what she saw as an important niche with great potential, she and her husband Trenton Gravelle started Silver Grizzly Transportation in 2015. It has been challenging, but very rewarding for the couple. "Being an entrepreneur requires hard work and dedication. There is nothing like the satisfaction from starting a business from the ground up, and at the end of the day knowing that it is yours," says Michelle. "Trenton and I worked together to get the business off the ground. It definitely brought us closer, and we are very proud of the end result of our hard work and effort."
Michelle and Trenton are grateful to their community for the support they have received for their business, but they are not completely surprised by it. Prince Rupert has always been a wonderfully supportive and friendly community. "Everyone knows each other," says Michelle. "We may not know each other by name, but there is always a smile and a nod or a hello when you walk by someone else." It makes it easy to get to know people and develop networks within the business community.
Besides its amicable people, Prince Rupert also has a great deal to offer in the way of setting and culture. Says Michelle, "it is right by the ocean, and has a rich Tsimshian culture. It is a great place to raise a family with all of the amenities it has and programs for the youth. Most importantly, when the sun shines on this rainy little town it lights up like a diamond and there is no other place I would rather be."
