Meet Romano, John, Marina & Lina Barazzuol
LaGondola is truly a family affair, and has been for more than sixty years. In fact, it is the oldest family-owned restaurant in Prince Rupert. It was Lina Barazzuol's husband Giovanni, better known as John Sr., who started the business back in 1952 when they first moved to Canada from Italy. The couple ran the restaurant for decades. When John Sr. passed away, his children Romano, John and Marina Barazzuol took over the family business and continue to oversee its daily operation.
Having been part of the community for so many years, the Barazzuol family knows almost everyone in town. Prince Rupert is an exceptionally friendly town in their experience, and it is something that they appreciate about their home town. They have formed many ties, and when their guests come in to eat they treat them like extended family members.
The family has seen many changes in the community over the decades. They've been through a number of economic ups and downs and have seen businesses come and go. They are proud to have lasted for so long in this community, and they are deeply grateful to their loyal customers (some are the children and grandchildren of the restaurant's earliest patrons) for being so supportive throughout the years.
