Meet Rob Gruber & Kristofor Johnson

Meet Rob Gruber & Kristofor Johnson

Rob Gruber was born and raised in Prince Rupert. Now he is raising a son here, and the only thing that Rob felt was missing from his beloved hometown was a high-quality gaming store. He wanted his son, an avid gamer, to be able to have a safe place to hang out with other gamers and pursue their hobbies in a fun and challenging environment. He and business partner Kristofor Johnson did just that in 2008 when they opened Good Times Games and Electronics. Not only does their business bring all kinds of different gamers together, it also participates in numerous local events and fundraisers throughout the year, including the Children's Festival and Seafest. They've even been able to help put Prince Rupert on the global map by playing host to international gaming events, qualifiers and championships.

Rob and Kristofor are both deeply entrenched in the community of Prince Rupert, which Rob describes as "the greatest little community on earth." They believe it offers everything a person could want from life: spectacular and diverse scenery, gorgeous weather, an ideal mix of different businesses and services, lots of things to do indoors and out and a safe, healthy environment for raising a family. "We have it all," says Rob. "I wouldn't live anywhere else for any reason. I am proud to call this town my home."

Entrepreneurship runs in Rob's family. His father started Saanich Plumbing & Heating, and Rob still spends part of his work week there while Kristofor manages the store. Both Rob and Kristofor are confident about the local business climate as well as the future for Prince Rupert's small businesses. "There is a renewed enthusiasm here," Rob says. "There is a positive feel. The future is bright for Prince Rupert and the region."
