Meet the Schildknecht family

Meet the Schildknecht family

Northern Rockies Lodge (formerly Highland Glen Lodge) was founded by Urs and Marianne Schildknecht in 1989. It has been a family operation ever since. Thanks to their Swiss heritage, the family business offers a unique European flare alongside the world-famous Alaska Highway.

The Schildknechts are very active in their business, both sons Michael and Daniel can be spotted assisting and working alongside their parents. Urs, an avid aviation enthusiast and proud owner of Liard Tours, can often be found in the dining area, entertaining guests with fishing and floatplane stories. Marianne is usually found in the reception area, greeting and welcoming guests to the Lodge often enjoying a short chat with locals and travellers alike. Together the family puts tremendous work in daily and continues to work on ongoing expansion projects to keep the facility up-to-date and to exceed the expectations of the travelling public.

The Schildknechts love Muncho lake and the Northern Rockies. They have many friends and social contacts in the Fort Nelson area. In their free-time, they like to go out into the Mountains for hikes, river adventures and wildlife viewing.
