Mackenzie Nature Observatory
The Mackenzie Nature Observatory is a not-for-profit group of dedicated volunteers in the Mackenzie area that focus on wild bird banding, identifying, and observing. They focus their efforts on Mugaha Marsh to the north of the community. Since 1997, the Mackenzie Nature Observatory has been concentrating on preserving local species and educating the public on conservation efforts and different species in the area.
Anyone is welcome to volunteer with the Mackenzie Nature Observatory and can fill out an application with a small fee on their website. If you’re an avid birder, it’s worthwhile investigating their Facebook page, where you can post your bird sightings and connect with other birding friends.
