When is Doug is not busy at work, he is dreaming of living back in Mexico on or close to the beach. "I have always been the guy who hosted major sporting events or functions at my house and people would constantly suggest to me that I should open a restaurant," the owner says. "The opportunity arose to have a Mexican/Canadian restaurant on the premises and I just had to go for it." This building had already existed but had been closed for over two years when Doug started this venture.

I love being my own boss and making my own decisions, he says. “They may be good or they may be bad but you learn from them on what it takes to be more successful.” Doug is proud that he is employing seven people through his business, six whom are Fraser Lake residents. "There is more emphasis on the sense of community than there is living in a big city," he says about business in Fraser Lake. You get to know your customers personally. You have time to sit down and visit with them and find out what is going on in their lives.

"Fraser Lake is a friendly place to live and I love that there is a ton of local wildlife around here," says Doug. Fraser Lake Dollar Store and Corner Store and Par 3 Sports In Motion are his favorite places to shop in town. Doug has a positive outlook on the future of business in Fraser Lake. “Things are opening and things are closing but the community support towards small businesses is awesome.”
