What began as a fun hobby for Karen Ganderton quickly morphed into a full-fledged business. Starting in 2013, Karen initially sold her creations at craft fairs. The demand for more orders kept steadily pouring in, and as of 2018, her creative passion has grown to new heights. “Why not? You never know what you can do unless you try,” says Karen. “I love what I do!”
As an entrepreneur in Fort St. John, making connections has been an easy feat. There is a healthy population of like-minded creatives, and Karen feels that the community is extremely supportive of their local artisans and businesses. “I think there's a tremendous opportunity here for small businesses to succeed and grow!” beams the Take A Gander! owner. “Grow your roots where you live.”
One of Karen’s favourite aspects of the work that she does is the reaction she gets from her customers. Putting smiles on people’s faces is what it’s all about, and for Karen, sharing her light and laughter with those around her is all the motivation she needs.
