Meet Rhonda Brown
Rhonda Brown started her mission to provide freshly made soup and sandwiches in 2013. “At that time in my life I had come to a fork in the road, the opportunity to purchase the business was on the table. After much consideration and research, along with the support both financially and physically from my family, I was able to purchase the business,” she explains.
Rhonda says that being a business owner forces you to become uncomfortable which causes you to grow in many ways. “It defines who you are and what you are made of. It is extremely empowering and it guides one in a direction to always be expanding with possibilities of growth and education. This experience has been one of the most valuable tools that I could have imagined. The exposure to all the different components has been exponential.”
The shop owner says that Fort St. John is home, and there are so many great aspects of her community.
“There is a friendly atmosphere that comes with a small town,” she says. “People tend to talk more to each other in this style of a community and one gets the sense of belonging. It is more intimate here and businesses rely on word of mouth. You really need to be taking very good care of your customers in order to earn their trust.”
Rhonda believes there is a lot of stability in her community’s small businesses. “There is new growth and older shops that are still operating. I think this provides a strong sign that we have the public’s support,” she says.
