Bruce MacDonald originally came to Fort St. James to keep an eye on the hardware store until new owners could be found, but ended up buying it himself instead in 1989, and has been a part of the community ever since. Bruce and his wife, Claire, are active in the community as volunteers as well as business people. They try to make Fort St. James a better place to live by supporting school athletic programs and organizations like the Breakfast Club to serve kids breakfast, as well as getting involved with other non-profit organizations.
Bruce loves being able to know everyone who comes into the store. “Fort St. James has a small town, friendly atmosphere and I'm proud to be a part of it and serve the community.” The MacDonald's bring service and friendship to Fort St. James and hope to be a part of its growth and prosperity for a long time to come.
