Poplar Hills Golf & Country Club

Food & Beverage-Organizations-Sports & Recreation

Enjoy magnificent views of the Muskwa Valley as you work your way through nine challenging holes of golf at Poplar Hills Golf & Country Club. Varying terrain and topography and a series of obstacles and bunkers keep players engaged as they play through the fairways and greens and drink in the sights and sounds of the valley and the Northern Rockies in the backdrop. Golfers can also practice their swing at the driving range, relax in the lounge, grab a cold beverage from the concession or visit in the clubhouse. Equipment and accessories are available for sale in the Pro Shop, and power carts are available for rent. Poplar Hills Golf & Country Club is open to the public seven days per week in non-winter months.

Meet Terry Streeper, General Manager

Terry Streeper's job is enviable. He gets to work outdoors and take in some of the most spectacular views to be had in Fort Nelson. He gets to meet all kinds of people and get to know them in a casual, fun environment. And he gets to play all of the golf he wants. But his favourite part of the job is serving his friends and neighbours. "I know all the people who come to golf...I know what they need and what they want, and I'm able to get it for them often times without them even having to ask. I can customize my business to meet the specific needs of my clientele, and I'm able to give a more personalized customer service experience," says Terry.

Terry's life is rooted in the community of Fort Nelson. His children and grandchildren live here, and the laid-back pace of life means that he is able to spend a lot of time with them when he isn't working. The small town atmosphere means that it is easier to get to know your neighbours, and that "you don't feel like a faceless number in a crowd of other faceless numbers." Terry is proud of Fort Nelson, noting that the people who live here put their hearts and souls into everything they do, whether it is at work, at play or serving their fellow community members.

Terry always knew that he wanted to work for himself. He appreciates the flexibility that entrepreneurship provides and knowing that success is directly related to the amount of work you put into your job. He's proud of the beautifully-maintained golf course and knowing that he was part of helping a guest have a great experience in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
