Phoenix Theatre
The Phoenix is a 250-seat stage house incorporating state of the art sound and lights in an intimate environment. As well as being a live theatre by design, the Phoenix also serves the community as a movie theatre, art gallery, rental facility and convention centre. The Phoenix has played host to numerous fine artists, bands and live entertainers over the years. It has also served as a venue for special events and weddings, with various rooms available for rent to accommodate groups from 20 to 250 people.
The Phoenix Theatre is a member of the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada and the British Columbia Arts Council. The Phoenix was the winner of the 2011 Chamber of Commerce Customer Service Award.

Meet Doug Roper & Phoenix Theatre Management Society
The Phoenix Theatre began as a vision that citizens of Fort Nelson had to create a local space for community theatre and arts programs. Thanks to hard-working, dedicated community members, the local Arts Council and the city, The Phoenix opened to the public in 1992. Its major mandate is to encourage and promote local artists and arts programs. The Phoenix is managed by a board of directors and revenues generated through ticket sales and rentals help to maintain the theatre and boost the local arts community.
Doug Roper is the General Manager of The Phoenix and credits the citizens and businesses of Fort Nelson with the ongoing success of the theatre and its programming. People in a small town tend to have a greater sense of community and take community improvement more seriously than people living in a city. In Fort Nelson, people are friendly and caring and willing to do their part to make the town a better place to live. "Fort Nelson has a lot of spirit!" says Doug.
