Elke and John Weber love their great big family of pets, both their own beloved pooches and the ones who come as guests to their rural property built especially with dogs in mind. "Some of my clients have been coming here with their pets for generations," Elke says. Many people leave their pets in John and Elke's capable care when they're taking vacations to places where pets aren't able to go. Other times owners call in a state of distress because family matters have arisen and made it necessary to try to find pet care at the last minute. "I am happy to provide compassionate care for people's pets, so they have the peace of mind to deal with what they are going through," Elke states. "My client's pets are family and we want them to be as comfortable as possible with their experience."

When the Webers first started Silverbar Reg'd Kennels in 1984, there was virtually no place for pet parents to leave their pets when they needed care. So Elke took courses in grooming and animal care and started the business to fill that local niche. Having her own business allowed her to be able to be available to her child and still have a career. Since then, "I have never looked back and my business has continued to grow."

Elke and John have been a part of the community for decades and appreciate the sense of security and support it affords. "I love that everyone knows you," Elke states. "I also love that when someone is going through a bad time the community rallies around the person or family to show their support. I enjoy the lifestyle, the lack of rush hour and the whole small town vibe."
