Patz was born and raised in Dawson Creek and wouldn't live anywhere else. She enjoys going down to the river and breathing in the refreshing Peace River air. Patz enjoys all the roads around Dawson Creek and she likes "to go to the Rolla Pub and visit Patty on my drives". Patz also likes to fish, camp, quad, take pictures and paint too. The Peace area is a source of endless inspiration and Patz is grateful for the scenic locations that are nearby.

Patz went away from Dawson Creek to attend hair dressing school and since opening her own shop in her community she has helped others in their professional development. Patz has worked with Northern Lights College and helped put 11 students through her salon. "I'm proud of staying on task and seeing those apprenticeships through," said Patz, "all of them have become successful women." Patz is committed to ongoing skills training and attends hair shows and brings in guest hair dressers too. The hair dressing salon is Patz's livelihood land she genuinely loves working with the public. She is very grateful for her regular clientele, for their ongoing friendship and she also welcomes new clients. She appreciates the sense of community among Dawson Creek business owners and points out that the entire block where she is located is full of enthusiastic business owners who support one another.
