Meet David & Claudette Huber
David and Claudette love living in Dawson Creek where they enjoy the strong sense of community support and connections. "You're remembered by name and not just a next or number in line," said Claudette. She and David enjoy spending time with their children camping and fishing. Claudette strongly believes that Dawson Creek is the main hub where everyone heads to for services. They like all of the recreation and retail opportunities available locally. Claudette recommends trying the walking track at the EnCana Centre. "It provides a safe, sheltered environment to walk off your stresses and get some physical activity in," she said.
The future of Dawson Creek is bright because Claudette recognizes people have the desire to support their local resident business owners. Claudette supports stores such as Faking Sanity Used Bookstore and Cafe, Hug a Mug's Coffee House & Eatery, and the Dawson Creek Health Food Centre for their friendly service and helpful staff.
Claudette and David opened up HAPPY HOBBIT CURIOS INC. in October of 2016. The store was born out of their own strong desire to create a community for those seeking companionship, fellowship, and education. They noticed there was a need in Dawson Creek for their type of business. "I felt the need to provide a spiritual haven where local residents could come in without prejudice and be welcomed," explained Claudette, "a place that would evolve into a sense of community offering education, support, and camaraderie."
Even though they have been in business for a relatively short time, they feel they have already established a warm and caring environment for their customers.They love doing business in Dawson Creek because of relationships formed with their customers and the ability to create a deeper sense of community and belonging.
