Meet Lee Anne Evans

Lee Anne Evans grew up in Chetwynd and has lived here for most of her life. The one year that she spent living in a city helped her to appreciate her small hometown even more. "The convenience of living in a small town can be appreciated when a person has lived in a larger center and nothing is very convenient," she says. With local services and stores located in close proximity to one another, running errands can be done quickly and efficiently, no commute necessary.

Having lived in Chetwynd for so long, Lee Anne knows a lot of locals, either from growing up with them or through shopping in her store. For her, her business is as much about social interaction as it is about sewing. "I get to interact creatively with my customers," she notes, whether it is helping them out with a question or project or sewing dresses for a wedding or grad.

Lee Anne started her business in 2012 after the sewing and fabric business that she had worked at for 14 years shut down. She loved her work, and she was an avid sewer, so she wanted to continue doing what she was passionate about. Having previously completed an administration program at Northern Lights College, she felt that she had both the education and the industry experience to start a business of her own. She admits that it is a great deal of work and responsibility, but that simply makes the successes more rewarding. For her, success isn't necessarily financial. Rather, it is often best found when she makes a dress for someone's special occasion and it fits like a glove.
