Don Lasser’s parents thought their son was destined for a career in accounting. Instead, it turned out that he had a natural gift for fixing vehicles. Don's talent for repairing vehicles was quickly noticed by his high school teachers, who would bring their vehicles into school for Don to fix. Don's reputation as a mechanic in high school grew as his friends and his friends’ parents started requesting servicing and repairs on their vehicles.

By the time Don graduated from high school, with the Shop Student award, he had already built up quite a clientele, even though he didn’t own his own shop yet. After graduating from Chetwynd Secondary School, Don went on to study auto mechanics in Fort St. John. He returned to Chetwynd where he already had clients lining up for his services. It wasn’t long before he started North Country Rebuilders, and he has been fixing vehicles ever since. Don is dedicated to his work and cares about the people that come into his shop.

Don is grateful to the community of Chetwynd who have been faithfully supporting his business for many years. He appreciates his community and its casual, friendly, small-town atmosphere. He does manage to get away from the shop from time to time, as he does enjoy traveling, but Chetwynd is the only place he would live.
