Meet Carlene Smith & Pam Engelland
Carlene Smith and Pam Engelland aren't just business partners; they're mother and daughter. Both have called Chetwynd home for many years. They started their cafe business in 2015, in part, as a means of contributing something meaningful to the community and the local economy, in a very tasty way. Carlene and Pam come from a close knit family, and they feel grateful to be able to work together in what they hope will become a successful family business.
Carlene and Pam both agree that Chetwynd is a wonderful place both to work and to live. The small town atmosphere makes it easy for people to get to know each other. It also means that "you truly build a relationship with your customers, old and new," says Carlene. Community support is huge in Chetwynd and means a lot to local business owners like Carlene and Pam. Not only do locals support their local businesses, they are dedicated to one another too. Says Carlene, "the entire town will always pull together to help anyone who is in need no matter what the circumstances are."
In addition to having wonderful residents, Chetwynd also has incredible natural surroundings, rife with opportunities for play. Carlene and Pam love the outdoors, and time off of work often means partaking in outdoor recreation. Their favourites include biking, boating, swimming, hiking, camping and sports.
