Meet Sarah Conkin & Mark Phibbs

Meet Sarah Conkin & Mark Phibbs

Sibling duo Sarah Conkin and Mark Phibbs have found their calling as entrepreneurs in the safety training industry. Mark founded the company along with his parents’ over 20 years ago, and moved on to become a full time paramedic with the BC Ambulance Service, while Sarah has worn many hats in the business over the past 15 years. With a wealth of experience between the two of them, Sarah and Mark love the opportunity to interact with both the professional community and the public. “I discovered that my ‘tribe’ is the business community, I feel fully alive when I am engaged in this arena,” exclaims Sarah.

As the success of small business ebbs and flows with each year, Sarah and Mark have learned to become resilient and adapt to the changing tides. Staying connected with fellow entrepreneurs and forging partnerships where possible has proved to be a beneficial tactic. As a second generation business that’s been in existence since 1998, the business pair are constantly developing the company vision in order to stay relevant in an evolving marketplace. While both have been involved with the business over the years, they’ve only had ownership since 2015. They are continuing to build on the company mission of being a positive influence in the safety training sector.

When classes are not in session, Sarah and Mark take a little time off to enjoy their families and the expansive outdoor recreational opportunities surrounding Fort St. John. Some of their favourite places to explore are the Pink Mountain countryside, Charlie Lake for its boating, or fishing on Williston Lake. There’s certainly no shortage of impressive natural phenomenon in the area, all of which highlights the ‘frontier spirit’ in the North, says Sarah.
