In the daylight, a spotting scope provides you with intimate views of eagles, seals, bird life and boats cruising in and out of nearby Queen Charlotte harbour. This private view is hedged by Italian plum trees, windswept craggy cedars and the gorgeous Pacific Ocean. At low tide, village amenities are only a short beach walk or a five-minute drive away.
Your modern kitchen is stocked with fresh farm eggs, homemade bread, artisan jams and amenities. Enjoy breakfast beside the ocean and stone-grill or cedar plank your daily catch on the deck side barbecue for dinner.
At the end of the day, let the sounds of the ocean provide a relaxing backdrop while you read enveloped by a sunset that has filled the living room or crack your window open to allow the breeze and sounds to lull you to sleep after a full day of exploring.

Tom and Janine North didn’t just retire, they re-wired! In 2016, they left the hustle and bustle of the city behind to enjoy village life with an oceanside vista on Bearskin Bay in Daajing Giids.
Their dream was to create a home and guest retreat that embodies the good life on Haida Gwaii. "Haida Gwaii is the only place on earth we've found where it's effortless to live in the moment,” says Janine. “The unique combination of raw beauty, Haida culture, restless ocean, beach-combing, incredible fishing, kayaking, whale watching, and friendly, relaxed lifestyle are easy to share with guests and friends. The best-kept secret is the weather though - perpetual spring and much more sunshine than Vancouver.”
The couple has found a new peace living on this remote archipelago of islands. The sea-swept landscape, the ancient Haida culture and monumental forests are now what shape their view of the world. Days are graced with endless beaches, old-growth forest walks, world-class salmon fishing, panoramic mountain and ocean views and close encounters with deer, eagles and whales.
It’s a daily luxury of island life that will no doubt leave anyone spell bound.
