Meet Kimberly Kaytor
Kimberly Kaytor experienced health issues a few years ago. After several months of unsuccessful treatment using conventional medicine, she turned to natural health for help. One of her treatments was a cleanse that involved a strict diet comprised largely of fresh produce. She began feeling better almost immediately on the diet, but quickly discovered how difficult it was to find healthy food to eat while on the go. "I traveled a lot with my daughter who plays rep soccer, and when we were on the road it was almost impossible to find places to eat that fit in with my dietary needs," Kimberly says. This got her thinking about her own community, and she began to wonder how many Williams Lakers wished that they could go to a restaurant in town and find more than one or two menu options that they could actually eat. And soon, the concept for Smashin' Smoothies began to take shape.
Kimberly opened the shop in 2012, and she still gets a kick out of people who come in and say, "I bet you don't have anything here that I can eat." To which she always replies, "I bet we do!" And she's almost always right. With a huge selection of gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free and vegan items, no one ever leaves without finding something nutritious and delicious to eat. She's proud to be able to serve fresh, nutritious food that tastes good to boot.
Kimberly leads an active life outside of work. Besides following her daughter around the province, Kimberly is an avid mountain biker. Williams Lake, she says, has an incredible mountain biking community with lots of beautiful places to ride. In fact, she and her family love all things outdoors and also enjoy spending time camping, backpacking and fishing.
