Meet Lisa Schultz

For artist "Lisa Schultz":https://lovehaidagwaii.com/businesses/lisa-schultz-artist, there is no more idyllic lifestyle than the one she enjoys on Haida Gwaii's north beach. Running a tourism business in this remote location gives her plenty of opportunities and endless inspiration for her artwork. "I love where I live!" Lisa exclaims. Among other things, she notes, "it enriches my belief in healthy mind, body and soul." From her home in Naikoon Provincial Park ten miles from Masset, Lisa is surrounded by immaculate beaches and forest teeming with wildlife, the sound of lapping waves a constant backdrop any time of day. "There is a spiritual element that cannot be avoided here," she says.

Lisa takes pleasure in entertaining guests from places all over Canada and even other parts of the world. She is passionate about introducing them to the activities that make Haida Gwaii life special and distinctive, like food-gathering. Lisa's own free time is often spent gathering wild food in the woods and from the ocean and beaches. She loves to spend time in nature. Art is also a big part of her life. She does oil paintings and drawings in pen, ink and pencil. Much of her artwork is inspired by nature and wildlife, so her north beach home is a rich source of subject material.

Lisa is deeply connected to the community of Masset. According to her, there is a close-knit, family feeling among Masset residents. Everyone looks out for one another and people are always eager to support each other, whether it's shopping locally or participating together in a community event. It makes for a very enriching lifestyle that Lisa wouldn't trade for any other.
