Meet Dane Richardson
Dane Richardson keeps busy with his veterinarian practice located on the family ranch, a property and business that has been in the family since 1919. As a fully-accredited graduate from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, Dane joined the practice alongside his father in 2013, who had founded the business more than three decades prior. Now with six generations under title, the Richardson Ranch has become a globally renowned facility producing acclaimed bulls and breeding cattle.
As if life weren't busy enough, Dane felt the nagging urge to expand his entrepreneurial creativity. Fishing has always been a lifelong passion for the veterinarian, an activity he tries to partake in as often as he can. Dane noticed a need in the community for fishing equipment and accessories, thus making his plunge into a second business endeavour in 2019. His shop, among others, provides opportunity for employment and draws visitors into the area.
One of Dane's favourite aspects of owning his own fishing supply store is the ability to share his passion with his customers. It has been a blessing to do business in a small community as well- Haida Gwaii allows for endless freedom of expression. “I love that it's so small and spread out,” shares Dane. “You're free to do what you want!”
