Meet Matthew Eastabrook
Matthew Eastabrook was born and raised in Smithers, and although he left the community for a few years to pursue trades training, his plan was to eventually return and make his life here. "I always knew that I wanted to be a locksmith," says Matthew. He also had a dream of owning his own business, so after finishing his training it was an easy decision to open up his own business in his home town.
According to Matthew, the people who live in Smithers are what really make the community special. "Everyone knows everyone," he notes, and that leads to a sense of trust that you don't get in a bigger city. The small town atmosphere allows him to build relationships with his customers easily.
Of course, one of Smithers' other great characteristics is its natural scenery, at least in Matthew's opinion. Full of things to do for those who love outdoor pursuits, it's also ideal just for sitting back and enjoying the views all over the Bulkley Valley. Matthew tries to do this often when he isn't busy working. He especially enjoys spending time with friends and family.
