Meet Kim Goetzinger, RMT

Kim Goetzinger was born and raised in Haida Gwaii and has spent most of her life here. She is proud of her ancestry and her Haida Gwaii heritage and feels very connected to the land, from the whales that breed just outside her window overlooking the ocean to the magnificent sunrises almost every morning. One of the ways that she stays connected to nature is by getting outside and being active. Her favourite ways to do this are swimming in the ocean and riding her bike around the islands.

Kim understands how important activity is to a healthy lifestyle, and her passion for massage therapy was born out of this. It's hard to be active when you're dealing with pain, injury, gait issues and imbalances, and Kim works hard to educate people about the importance of wellness and how massage and stretching can help maintain ongoing well-being and make activity easier and more enjoyable. She feels privileged to be able to help people move better and manage pain and stress in a way that is natural and healthy.

Living in a place like Skidegate brings with it a greater sense of trust that can't always be established when living in a city. People depend on each other and are quick to help each other. They are also apt to spread the word when they receive great service and products from local businesses, and this has helped Kim grow her business. In fact, she says, there are many fabulous small businesses on the island that do a great job. And though the island has seen its share of challenges, Kim remains positive about the future for business, noting that "working hard is the key" to staying successful.
