Meet Lenore Lawrence & Peter Cook
Lenore Lawrence was looking for a change of pace in her life 15 years ago and decided to look into business ownership. She had a good friend who lived on Haida Gwaii and the two went into business together, purchasing Premier Creek Lodging, which had been a part of the community since the early 1900's. They co-operated it together for a few years until Lenore bought her partner out. Today she runs Premier Creek Lodging along with her husband, Peter Cook, who she met when he was a guest.
The move to Haida Gwaii has proved to be a positive one for Lenore, who enjoys nature and appreciates the quiet and all of the space that is available in the islands. She and Peter like to spend time walking the many local trails in the area. Lenore is grateful for the close community where people are friendly and everything that you need is within walking distance. "There's no real need to drive here," she notes.
Operating a hotel and hostel has given Lenore and Peter the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. The couple likes entertaining their guests and hearing their stories and their backgrounds. Free time, when they have it, is often spent walking the trails, doing Tai Chi or gardening. Peter is a particularly skilled gardener who takes care of the landscaping and maintenance around the property. They are also very active in the community of Daajing Giids.
