Meet Jesse Embree
Meet Jesse Embree
After spending the majority of his working hours employed by other business owners, Jesse Embree knew it was time for a switch. “When the opportunity arose to have a business that was truly my own, I decided to take the plunge” says Jesse. Being an entrepreneur allows Jesse to fully create a vision of his own, allowing him to be at the forefront of all the operations, which is something that he takes great satisfaction in.
After committing to the island life, Jesse was on the hunt to be part of something that would allow him to contribute to the community. “Having settled here with my family, it was a matter of just finding something to sink my teeth into,” he says about his choice to do business in Queen Charlotte. “There is a sense of community here and I like the feeling of truly adding something. I’m optimistic about business here, I've seen a number of new businesses open up as well as some established businesses transitioning to a younger crowd of owners.”
Jesse says that a smaller community provides him with more authentic relationships between his customers and friends; he’s fond of the shorter commute times and finds there are many great places to enjoy here. “I try to pop into everyone's shop now and again. Lately, I've been hitting up the Junebug Cafe a lot. I love the vibe in there!”
Jesse and his young family also appreciate the supportive services offered by the Island Wellness Society such as the Childcare Resource and Referral, the toy lending library and the Baby Steps dinners and playgroups.
