Heloise Tupas has had a longstanding dream to own her own business. With decades of customer service experience between her and her husband, retail seemed to fit the bill. With a little bit of encouragement, a whole lot of drive, and immense support from loved ones, Heloise founded her clothing retail business in 2019, a feat that was possible thanks to the help from Community Futures. Her vision for the business is one that takes into consideration the customer's suggestions, and by listening to her customers she hopes they will continue to shop as locally as possible. In doing so, Prince Rupert's local economy flourishes, and in turn, others throughout the community also see the benefit. Some of the perks of entrepreneurship have been a flexible schedule, a feature that Heloise greatly appreciates. “Honestly, it allows us to spend more time together as a family because we can make our schedule fit our needs, and for us, that is so important,” shares the Aria Apparels owner. Heloise and her husband share a young daughter, whom all enjoy spending as much of their free time together as possible. A desirable work-life balance is more than feasible in a small community like Prince Rupert. “Prince Rupert is beautiful in every way, the people, the views, and the support,” shares Heloise. “You won't find that in the big city!”
