Meet Shauna & Mick Harper
Shauna and Mick Harper moved from Vancouver to Prince George in pursuit of a more enriching lifestyle. In Prince George, says Shauna, they found what they were looking for and more. Away from the hustle and bustle and crowds of the city, they've managed to carve out more family time, plus, "we feel more connected to the community and we have been able to pursue our passions without having to worry about the high cost of living," says Shauna. They have also discovered a much deeper sense of connectedness to the community, their neighbours and their fellow small business owners. "Everyone here is so connected and willing to reach out to introduce you to their network or help," declares Shauna. In fact, Mick and Shauna agree that they have both been inspired by the generosity of people who live here and their willingness to help others as well as the “can-do” attitude and spirit of making things happen.
Their relocation to Prince George proved to be a fruitful one for their business as well. They've been able to grow their careers in a way that would not have otherwise been possible. It has made their venture as entrepreneurs even more rewarding and satisfying. Both are passionate about what they do and they appreciate the opportunities that entrepreneurship has provided them to learn, grow and develop new skills.
Mick and Shauna are excited to be a part of the downtown Prince George business area. It has a special vibe about it that excites them. It feels, says Shauna, "like there is a new buzz in the business community." With more young entrepreneurs emerging and more people desiring to learn from previous generations, Shauna and Mick believe that the future for downtown businesses is looking up and they are proud to be a part of the movement.
