Golden Spruce Motel
Centrally located in the heart of Graham Island, the Golden Spruce Motel offers easy and quick access to sites and destinations all over Haida Gwaii, including its spectacular and scenic beaches. Twelve guest rooms are available with the option of kitchenette. Breakfast is available upon request for a small fee. Updated information on fresh and tidal fishing is always available, and guests interested in fishing or ocean sightseeing may book an ocean charter for up to three people. Propane filling service is also available to guests. The Golden Spruce Motel is a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Meet Urs Thomas
Urs Thomas wears many hats. He is a Village Councillor serving the residents of Port Clements and helping to make it a prosperous, pleasant place to live and work. He's also the owner of the Golden Spruce Motel, a job that is 24 hours per day, seven days per week, all year round. He's something of a tour guide, keeping up-to-date on information about local fishing and tides and is happy to dispense that information to his guests who come to fish or boat in the waters around Haida Gwaii. Finally, he's also a cook and a bit of a foodie, putting his skills to work in the breakfast restaurant at the Golden Spruce Motel.
In addition to getting to know the guests of the motel, Urs knows just about everyone in Port Clements. Getting to know people in a small, friendly town like Port Clements is easy, and friendships and relationships form very naturally. This makes Urs and his fellow residents feel very safe and secure. Urs also notes that being located on the Masset Inlet provides Port Clements with extra protection from the havoc of storms and potential tidal waves.
As an outdoorsman, Urs embraces all of the recreational opportunities to be found on the islands. "There is great fishing for salmon and steelhead in close-by rivers, ocean seafood harvest opportunities, excellent deer hunting and mushroom picking," he points out. When he has free time, Urs puts on his outdoors hat and goes fishing or hunting.
