North Beach is a 40-minute drive away where guests will find the islands’ most popular surfing and swimming destination, and a 20-minute drive from the community of Tlell. It is also close to many of Haida Gwaii’s historic cultural sites. Wedding flowers and arrangements are available.

Meet Adele Kupp

For those who are weary of the grind, Haida Gwaii offers peace and serenity that is unrivaled, says Adele Kupp. The wonderfully mild weather, the spectacular ocean views and the diversity of flora and fauna in this temperate rain forest make Haida Gwaii a very special place. You will never have to contend with tedious, boring traffic frustrations or pay parking here, Adele notes. The lone traffic light on the island is at the ferry terminal in Skidegate landing, and be prepared to have everyone wave at you when driving, she adds. You may even want to work on your own distinctive wave to use in reply to these friendly locals.

Adele used to be in government service but retired early to be available to her family. Owning and running vacation rental properties has allowed Adele to share her enthusiasm for the island and to enjoy her guests' expressions of awe and joy as they recount their adventures. She relishes the creative aspect of the business and is constantly striving to make the guest house a warm and inviting place to stay. She says many of her guests have turned into great friends as they return year after year.

Being an entrepreneur provides Adele with the freedom to manage her own schedule, which she appreciates. She is able to work in leisure time, which she often spends outdoors in nature. She tries to surf and loves the sparkling water throwing diamonds in her face while watching the seals laugh at her efforts. Adele spends time bird watching, hiking, mushroom picking, beachcombing and harvesting indigenous plants, moss and ferns for her garden.
