Meet Maike Engelbrecht
Maike recently moved to Lillooet from the Lower Mainland and feels very connected to the community and rooted in the landscape already. "I love that I say 'hello' to people and they say 'hi' back," she said. Maike is a single parent to two teenagers and appreciates that Lillooet's small size means she isn't spending hours commuting to and from places. Maike has gained hours in her day and enjoys a tangible sense of peace in her new home. She loves the bears that come through her yard and the small town charm of Lillooet. Maike has joined the gun club, tried archery, gone fishing and enjoyed gold panning. She loves hanging out "downtown" and appreciates the surrounding landscape that she feels rejuvenates the soul. Lillooet has welcomed Maike and her family to town and she is grateful to be accepted for who she is.
Maike’s passion is helping people. She has many years of experience guiding people through personal tax issues and “shoe box accounting.” She owns and operates Diesel Dyke Ventures, a bookkeeping and personal income tax business. “What I really like to do is take the fear out of the numbers,” said Maike who is very skilled at reducing her clients’ anxiety dealing with The Canada Revenue Agency, and helping them be up to date with CRA. She enjoys being an entrepreneur and appreciates being part of her client’s businesses. Maike feels rewarded when she sees her clients excelling and feels that their success is her success too.
