Meet Joanne McCreadie & Val Stonehocker

Meet Joanne McCreadie & Val Stonehocker

Joanne McCreadie hates traffic and loves taking life at a laid-back pace, so for her and partner Val Stonehocker, Kitimat is the best place in the world to live and work. Plus, she adds, "I like knowing my neighbors and being helpful to those in need. In a small town when there is trouble then everyone knows and people will come together to help those in need. "

Not only is Kitimat home to wonderful people, it has a natural beauty that is unique and unrivaled. "This is one the most beautiful places in the world," says Joanne. "For the outdoors person like myself, it offers so much. In Kitimat we have the mountains, ocean, rivers, streams, trails, waterfalls and of course, bears." These are just a few of the things that make it not just a great place to live but a popular place to visit, and Joanne and Val are happy to be able to share that with their bed and breakfast guests.

Joanne was looking for a career change due to health issues that made her old work difficult to continue. A creative person with an entrepreneurial spirit, Joanne wanted to start something that she could work from home. A bed and breakfast were a perfect fit for her and Val, allowing her to put her ideas to work while capitalizing on all of the amazing things that Kitimat has to offer to visitors. Joanne is excited to be a part of what she believes is a coming period of growth for Kitimat and to be able to provide a service that will be in demand as the local economy booms.
