Meet Joan Lombardi
When a fire destroyed Joan Lombardi's home and part of her pool house, she quickly set about to rebuild. With the kids grown and the pool rarely used, she decided to rebuild the old pool house into a bed and breakfast. After all, she had the ideal property for it... secluded, quiet and surrounded by nature on all sides. It has a view of the mountains that Joan has enjoyed for many years, and now she enjoys sharing it with her many guests who come from all over the world, including places like Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
Joan has lived in Houston for more than four decades. It is home, and there are many things about it that Joan would never dream of giving up. One is, of course, the spectacular scenery. Living just outside of town, Joan is literally able to step out her back door and go for miles on foot or on her quad and be in nature. The other thing that makes it so amazing here, she says, is all of the wonderful, friendly people who also call Houston home.
Knotty Pines Bed and Breakfast is Joan's retirement business. These days, she keeps so busy that she wonders how she ever had time to work before. Besides spending her days entertaining her guests, Joan likes to do crafts like sewing and making mosaic tables in her spare time. She also enjoys decorating, something that is evident as soon as you step into the guest house.
