Angel Flowers & Gifts

Home Decor-Personal Care-Shopping

Angel Flowers and Gifts is more than its name implies. In addition to fresh flowers and beautiful gift items, this home-based business also houses a barber shop and is a dealer of Buck Creek Tack and Feed. Owner and hairstylist Phyllis Jellett invites locals to stop in and check out the shop’s new location, which includes Northern Laser, providing skin services, tattoo removal, hair removal, fungus removal, spider vein treatment and manicures.

Phyllis regularly offers courses on eyelash extensions, facials, barbering and much more.

Meet Phyllis Jellett

Hair stylist Phyllis Jellett bought her first business in Houston, a barber shop, back in 1979. Later she purchased a laundromat and eventually moved both into a different, single location where she also started selling flowers and then gift items. She later sold the laundromat and recently moved into a new location which also houses Northern Laser. Her daughter, Janeen, helps her run her business.

Phyllis spent a few years working for other people after graduating high school, but she always had a desire to work for herself. It was early in her professional life that she bought her first business, and she has been enjoying being an entrepreneur for most of her life. "I didn't want to be bossed around," she says laughingly. But what she really appreciates about being her own boss is the ability to set her own schedule and take vacations on her own time.

Phyllis owns a hobby farm that takes up much of her spare time when she's not working. She takes care of peacocks, chickens and horses. She is also very fond of her cats and her African grey parrots. She even raises Korean Jindo dogs on her farm. One of her dogs, Rocky, goes to work with her every day, and is well known around town and by regular Houston visitors who often drop in just to see Rocky. "People even bring him treats," says Phyllis.
