Canada’s Grocery Store and More

Agriculture & Food Production-Food & Beverage-Games & Activities

Thanks to the loving dedication towards their Fraser Lake community, Lori and Bobby Hurry put to good use their resourcefulness and entrepreneurial spirit through the creation of Canada’s Grocery Store and More. The town was accustomed to a small corner store for many essentials, and now with an expansive retail location within the mall, residents and visitors alike have full access to an excellent selection of general store products and cafeteria delicacies.

It gives the owners a great sense of pride being able to provide their fellow neighbours with a vital service. Shopping local has reinstated significant independence to the general population, and especially to those with mobility or travel issues- a sentiment that overjoys the Hurrys.

Canada’s Grocery Store and More showcases quality, brand-name grocery goods, fresh-baked and brewed foods, local products and wares from businesses such as Savoury Farms and Copper T Ranch, party supplies, dollar store items, camping supplies, water refill station and so much more! It truly is a one-stop-shop, carrying just about everything one could need.

Stop on by Canada’s Grocery Store and More and discover the wide array of local and popular brand products. As the New Business of the Year Award Fraser Lake 2018 recipient, the employees strive to maintain their excellent service reputation.

Meet Bobby & Lori Hurry

Meet Bobby & Lori Hurry

When he was little, Bobby Hurry’s mother used to call him “the littlest hobo” because he always seemed to be in the right place at the right time to lend a hand. Always handy with tools and his own two hands, many people have relied on Bobby over the years to get jobs of all sizes and scopes done. This natural ability would eventually lend itself well to starting a business.

Bobby and his wife, Lori, were living in the Okanagan when they bought a second property in Fraser Lake in 2004. They fell in love with the area immediately. During that same time period, the Okanagan was growing more urban and costly. Bobby and Lori decided that Fraser Lake, with its small town atmosphere, gorgeous natural landscape and wonderful people would be the ideal place to raise their young family. They sold their Okanagan home and made Fraser Lake their new permanent residence. Within a few years, more of their family members followed them northward and also made Fraser Lake home.

The Hurrys arrived just in time to catch the big snow storm of 2006. With so many people needing snow-removal and clean-up services afterward, Bobby had no trouble starting his own business. It was an ideal fit for their family and lifestyle, and today Bobby and Lori still appreciate the flexibility that business ownership provides them. They are able to meet the needs of their family and be available to one another while still maintaining a successful business. Bobby and Lori are committed to the people of Fraser Lake. They work hard to keep their fees affordable and to pass on any savings in product to their customers. “I just love being able to help people,” says Bobby, and for him, the work never gets dull. “Every day is a new job with us,” he adds. “The guys who work for us love doing different things all the time. You have to wear many hats in a small community.”
