A Cut Above is an independently owned hair salon that specializes in family hair care. Sherry offers hair cuts, colour, perms, foils, waxing, eye lash and brow tinting and tanning. At A Cut Above customers will find a variety of recommended hair care products such as shampoo, conditioner, gels, hair sprays and more. She loves to go “Above and Beyond” for her customers and will do home visits for the elderly or for those who cannot get to her store. Over the years she has learned to be flexible and offers occasional late night appointments. She believes that being flexible and dedicated is what has kept her in business for 29 years.
At A Cut Above, visitors will also find a wide range of retail as well such as gift-ware, jewellery, handbags, wallets and footwear. In addition there is also wide variety of ladies apparel such as tops, bottoms, dresses, sweaters, jackets, leggings and scarves.Sherry supports all local charities, clubs and sports teams with their fund-raising such as the Legion and local skating and minor hockey clubs.

Meet Sherry Tinsley
Sherry appreciates that Valemont is safe and she feels supported. She also likes the slow pace in her small town where she says, "there is no hurry and everyone is relaxed." She loves how everyone comes together to look after one another. "If anyone is ever in need," she said, "the community will make sure they aren't." She loves being active and enjoys being outdoors hiking, biking and fishing.
Sherry started A Cut Above almost 30 years ago and says her longevity is due to her fantastic clientele. She likes being an entrepreneur and appreciates the independence in determining how her business grows. "Hairstyles, clothing, the trend is always moving forward and I love being in the forefront choosing the path I take," said Sherry. She credits her father with instilling great work ethics and a drive to succeed. "My father, Bill Tinsley Sr., was a successful business man and literally helped build Valemount," she said, "he was dependable and driven and fortunately I inherited his work ethics." Sherry is proud of her family, her roots, her aboriginal ancestry and her successful business. She is grateful to the community of Valemount and her family for their love and support.
