Small town living has numerous advantages, says Melinda Steward, a long time resident who grew up in Dawson Creek and then raised her own family here. She appreciates that everything is close together, making it possible to get a day's worth of errands complete in mere hours. With that kind of efficiency, it leaves more time to do things that are really important in life. For Melinda, that means hanging out at the Ken Borek Aquatic Centre, visiting often with friends and family and taking the occasional trip.

The small town, friendly atmosphere in Dawson Creek also makes getting to know people easier and much more natural. Conversations happen almost everywhere because people are unhurried and open to one another. Mindy also notes that there are many clubs and organizations to get involved in here which not only benefit the community as a whole but also provides another avenue for getting to know others.

Mindy knew from a young age that she wanted to own her own business, so opening her own salon was a dream come true. Mindy declares that she loves what she does and is grateful for the opportunity to shape her business according to the needs of her customers. She is also deeply grateful to her staff, many of whom have been with her for years. "We are like a family," she says. "I am proud of my staff and how we work together as a team." Mindy and her staff look forward to many more years serving their clients and to future growth in the business.
