Meet Shawn & Nicolle Molner
Shawn and Nicolle Molner moved to Ashcroft in 2014 in pursuit of a small town atmosphere in which to raise their children. Though they haven't been here very long, they're already finding that the people who live in Ashcroft really care for one another. "People here look out for each other every day," says Shawn. For Shawn and Nicolle as the new owners of Thompson Valley Funeral Home, it is a new opportunity to work one on one with people who they will see again and get to know over the years.
Shawn has a compassionate heart and volunteered extensively with hospice over the years in his previous community. The funeral home was a natural fit for his and Nicolle's passion and desire to have a meaningful career that serves people at one of the times in their lives when it is most needed. In fact, says Shawn, one of his goals and missions is to personalize the funeral business. He's seen a trend in recent decades for funeral businesses to grow so large that they're no longer able to offer a personal touch to their clients. "We wanted to roll back in time a generation or two to recapture the level of service that has been lost by the larger companies in recent years," Shawn says.
Their move to Ashcroft has been a positive one for the Molners. As business owners they have embraced the freedom that they have to create an environment that better serves the local community, one which, they believe, will make a positive difference. They've been welcomed by the business community, and they feel that small businesses here all have something unique to offer to the community. As for the future of business in Ashcroft, "It will be positive as long as we support one another."
