Meet Jil Freeman

Meet Jil Freeman

Jil initially took the plunge into entrepreneurship for two very different but significant reasons.
Not only did she recognize a deep need within her community for her services and skills, but she also wanted the ability to create her own path. A path where she was able to stay at home with her daughter.

Running her business in a small town has given Jil a chance to make an impact in the place that she calls home. This graphic designer is proud that her business helps the local economy. She loves to collaborate with other business owners and develop opportunities for economic growth. Seeing how money spent can benefit her community motivates her to continue these collaborations.

Jil explains that small town folk are more open to sharing, which allows the community to flourish. “I love that I am able to be as creative as possible in my business,” says Jil. “Lone Butte has a feeling of community that you just don’t get in a larger city. We have many small businesses here that support each other and there is still room to expand.”

During her free time, you will find Jil exploring the beauty of nature with her family or walking the trail system on 99 Mile Hill. She is grateful to be so close to the outdoors and this area allows her to be totally emerged in nature without having to travel far from home.

The business owner sees change happening within the city and notes that there is a new generation of entrepreneurs who are starting to branch out and develop their own unique business. One such place is Bone Love, which is a great local shop that offers homemade dog treats for your four-legged friends.

“I feel optimistic about the future of Lone Butte business,” exclaims Jil. “It’s exciting to see how small businesses change the way we spend our money. When you know who the money is going to, you are more likely to support the business, even if that means spending a little more. I feel it is important to keep our money invested within our own community whenever possible.”
