99 Mile Motel

Tourism, Travel & Lodging

When Mel and Kim Torgerson took over the 99 Mile Motel in 2010, they immediately set about to upgrade it and make improvements. Today, the 99 Mile Motel provides the kind of friendly service and personal attention you can only find in a small town.

Guests at the 99 Mile Motel appreciate the clean rooms, flat screen TV’s and free Wi-Fi. It is the positive feedback they’ve received from both locals as well as their guests that inspire Mel and Kim to keep striving to improve their business and make them proud to be entrepreneurs.

Meet Mel & Kim Torgerson

Mel and Kim Torgerson have been 100 Mile House residents for a quarter of a century. The couple is deeply entrenched in the community and was looking for a way to become more involved and give back when the opportunity arose to purchase the 99 Mile Motel.

Mel and Kim have a passion for the idea of inclusiveness in communities, particularly toward seniors. Mel, who manages Carefree Manor (an assisted living facility for seniors), recently sat on the Measuring Up North committee which studied accessibility and inclusivity for seniors in 100 Mile House. Mel has also been part of the Cariboo Chilcotin Partners for Literacy.

With so many irons in the fire, the couple admits that free time is scarce. However, when they're able to grab a few hours they enjoy hitting the golf course. The Torgerson’s are enthusiastic about the future of business in 100 Mile House, noting that it will be the small town-style customer service that will set it apart from larger cities and big-box stores.
